Information on how to apply for a visa for the United Arab Emirates:
General Information
- The importer must receive imported goods personally, in order to clarify any inconsistencies and take care of the formalities.
- All of the imported goods are inspected.
- All household and personal effects are duty free upon entry into the country.
- A valid residence permit is required.
- New household goods are liable to duty or tax.
Required Documents
- Two legible copies of the passport
- Residence permit
- Certificate of employment from the employer
- Inventory list of the imported goods in English (original and two copies)
- Insurance policy
The following items are liable to tax or import-limited
- New goods
- Corrosive or flammable items
- Plants and vegetables with certificate
- Foodstuffs or pharmaceutical products and medicines have to be approved for import by the health ministry. These items have to be packaged separately for each inspection point.
- Religious or political literature has to be approved by the responsible authority.
- Stamp or coin collections or other valuable objects
Prohibited Items
- Alcohol in all forms
- Drugs and narcotics
- Weapons, firearms and ammunition (including toys)
- Products made of ebony or from endangered species
- Pornographic, political or religious and anti-governmental literature, films etc. that obviously propagandize against the Islam or the UAE
- Erotic items or items that obviously violate the principles of Islam
- Goods and commodities made from pork or that contain pork
- Wireless connections for communication purposes or communication devices
- Items of Israeli origin or that are on the black list (Israel)
- Forged coins and bills
